We can learn to heal ourselves from the symptoms of stress, we can feel and be well. We are all able to do this, whatever age or stage we are at.
Due to these uncertain times whilst Corona Virus is around, I wanted to provide online support for anyone feeling anxious or vulnerable. I will be teaching yoga classes online via Zoom. Day retreats will also be available in the coming months to help boost our immune system and improve our mental and physical wellbeing by being outside in nature.
Yoga is a philosophy that is thousands of years old. It means union. It is the practise of working with the body and the mind together to bring about a feeling of wellbeing. It teaches us to live our lives with more awareness so we can live being the best version of ourselves.
The tradition of yoga I work with includes asana (physical practises), pranayama (working with the breath) and yoga Nidra (meditation).
In our lives so many of us live with the symptoms of stress. A whirling mind, a racing heart, the inability to sleep, digestive issues, an aching head and an aching body. These are all symptoms of an over stimulated nervous system. And then on top of this add an office environment where we are sitting all day, looking at screens, with little spare time to get up and move around. Therefore, we are subsequently removing any chance of our bodies being able to naturally shift the stress as it comes in throughout the day.
We need to find ways to change this - yoga is one of the tools we have to effect this change. It teaches us how to become aware of what is going on. If we can feel what is occurring, we are then able to work out what to do to alleviate it. Through moving the body methodically and carefully in rhythm with the breath we are able to shift physical tension. In working with the breath we can start to effect the mind. In turn this has a positive effect on all the amazing systems of the body, allowing for the body to work more efficiently and effectively so that it can mend and heal itself.
